Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture are founded on the belief that there are channels of energy within the body called meridians. When these channels become blocked, energy becomes unbalanced and it leads to physical and emotional symptoms. Emotional blocks and traumas can lead to limiting beliefs and behaviours contributing to phobias, anxiety, depression and addictions.

It is thought that the physical action of tapping calms the nervous system by interrupting our fight-or-flight response, and increasing our endorphins. By saying positive affirmations as we do this, we can stimulate our energy channels and ‘neutralise’ emotional blocks.

Why try EFT?

EFT practitioners can help you find the negative root cause beliefs that are stopping you moving forward and creating ‘blocks’ to healing. By tapping meridian points on the body while focusing on each issue and repeating positive affirmations you enable the body to replace the trauma associated with it. This is believed to eradicate the ‘short circuit’ to the body’s learnt response or negative emotion.

The basic technique involves repeating a positive affirmation then focusing on the concern (for example anxiety) while tapping on each meridian point. Your EFT practitioner will advise you on wording and variations depending on what you are addressing. They provide a safe, confidential space for you to work through your issues.

Gently tapping on acupressure points on the head and upper body and working through physical or emotional issues to move healing energy through the body can be repeated multiple times. The issues or feelings may change multiple times through sessions which is fine. EFT can quieten the stress response, leaving us feeling calmer, lighter and happier.
